The kart on display

To thank our sponsors and to promote the hydrogen as an alternative energy, we will be displaying our kart at the following locations:

03/10 Indupol Arendonk (http://www.indupol.be/)
05/10 Diametal Herentals (http://www.diametal.be/)
06 – 07/10 IBM Brussels (www.ibm.be)
25/10 Extreme Kart Herselt (http://www.extremekart.be/)

We will start frequent testing of the kart in Xtreme Kart, Herselt, to make sure all possible problems get detected. On Saturday October 25th the test session is open to the public between 13:00 and 14:00.

Amsterdam without cars

Sunday September 21st the hydrogen kart was displayed on Albert Cuyp in Amsterdam together with the kart of Forze Delft. The city of Amsterdam organised the ‘Clean Transportation Boulevard’ with the ambition of making the citizens of Amsterdam take a more critical look at their own transportation use. The public was able to collect a lot of information about the different clean transportation options. Formula Zero set up a race circuit on the famous market street and let us race against the Dutch competitors.

This event was the perfect test case for us after the several improvements we did since the race. About 5000 visitors were really excited to see both Team Forze and us making skidmarks on the track while taking corners. After a few laps of warmup our driver, Erwin, really got into the racing atmosphere.

The event was a great success and the kart performed very well. Our fastest time was 11,4 seconds, almost half a second faster than the Dutch team. We are now very confident that we have the fastest kart of all participants of the championship.

1st Place in Rotterdam !

After months of hard work and long long days we arrived at the first Championship race in Rotterdam with our Hydrogen Kart! A Kart to be proud of! It has superior steering properties and seems to be glued to the road. As you can see it also looks very sportive and aerodynamic.

The race in Rotterdam took two days, a sprint Race and a main race. By winning the first heat against the Spanish Team we qualified for the Final. Because of some technical problems of the fuel cell that was delivered by the organization we could not drive at full power and unfortunate we lost the race against our friends from TU Delft. Since the actual first gets to say they are in the "zero-est"-place, we therefore finished in the first place! :-D

This is the first Race out of 3 for the Championship Trophy. Now we finally got a look at the competing teams and we are very confident to win more prices in the future.

The race was a great adventure and made a lot of new friends. We are looking forward to the next races and are now motivated more than ever to get the zero'st place on the stage!

Congratulations to the whole team that were able to build and design a kart in less than 6 months!

Winner of Fuel Cell System in Formula Zero Design Competition

Teams enrolled for the Formula Zero Championship could send their design to be evaluated by the racing jury. Our team entered the design competition and was among the six lucky teams to win a racing package, consisting of a complete fuel cell system and hydrogen cartridges. The positive result of the design competition gives us confidence about the quality of our concept, and a guarantee to enter the comp etition. Moreover, now that we have the fuel cell system secured, we can spend our attention and budget on other stuff to make our vehicle the fastest on the grid!

What’s coming up?

During the next month we will concentrate our efforts to create the first prototype vehicle. Electrical systems are ordered and on the way, the mechanical group is already preparing the chassis and adjusting everything to match properly. In a matter of weeks the kart should be ready for the first test drives. The hydrogen group will continue work on the fuel cell implementation and operation, while receiving the fuel cell system and running performance tests in the lab. Meanwhile the PR team is preparing a new website and contacting more partners for the project. Together we all work hard to show the world the best hydrogen powered kart ever created!
