Clean Week 2020 is an annual event at the circuit of Zolder. It aims at providing an annual review of future oriented technologies in the fields of mobility and environment, blended into an appealing mix of sporty, educational, technological and recreational elements.  Like every year we were present at this event to show future oriented technologies in the mobility field, from R&D to competition.

This Cleanweek had the honor of  recieving a Royal visit from Prince Laurent.

Prins Laurent, in this picture accompanied by Thierry Deflandere (General Director of Circuit Zolder) and Sonja Claes (Mayor of Heusden-Zolder), officially opened CleanWeek 2020.

Just like in 2009 (link) Prince Laurent had attention for the hydrogen technology present in our vehicles.

Besides hydrogen, there was also attention for a lot of other green mobility and energy technologies. Our Partner Solarcompany was also present. The picture below shows their newest invention: The E-tree.

Hydrogen powered racing!

The ‘Solvay Umicore Zero Emission Racing Team’ is a non-profit organisation consisting of young engineers and engineering students who share the dream of developing clean racing vehicles. It’s members have experience in the design of ultra high efficiency electric vehicles such as solar- , hydrogen- and hybrid vehicles, and never got rid of the ‘clean vehicle virus’.

The team’s vision is to build on the experience of previous projects, and use the spirit of competition to push technology to the limit and beyond. We are convinced that zero emission racing can act as a catalyst to technical challenges and accelerate the development of technologies in the field of clean vehicles just like Formula One competition has accelerated the development of automotive technologies and still challenges the limits of what is possible with technology.

The team's main sponsors are Umicore and Solvay, two Belgian industry groups which are cooperating in the research and development of fuel cell technology. Several specialised companies and research institutions support the project with their specific expertise. An important partner in the project was Triphase, a company specialised in power electronics. Together with their partners, the team developed the fastest hydrogen powered go kart in the world.
